The new song “Bona” from Sampa The Great’s upcoming second studio album, “As Above, So Below,” is out.
Later this summer, Sampa The Great will put out her new album, As Above, So Below. Sampa made the album after she moved back to Zambia, where she was born. She was mostly raised in Botswana, but she started her career in Australia. We’ve already featured “Never Forget” and “Lane,” which was written with Denzel Curry, and now Sampa has given us “Bona,” a hard, demanding workout.
Sampa explained the meaning of “Bona” in a statement. He said, “I haven’t shown yet how Botswana’s music has changed me. This is the style, vocabulary, and swag of Botswana’s youth.” “Bona” gives me a chance to talk about different parts of music that influenced me as a child, other than Zambian music. I want to add a Southern African song to the mix and DJ workstations, along with the Afrobeats, to show that Africa has a wide range of music.
