British rapper, singer and songwriter, Irving Ampofo Adjei, known professionally as Headie One, has released the remix of his new single titled “Pound Signs” featuring J Ramm.
Headie One is still riding high off of the release of Edna, as well as its deluxe edition. However, it seems that a follow-up to the project might be in the pipeline. A recent appearance for a Daily Duppy freestyle with GRM Daily earlier this year rippled through the underground circuit. Then, he slid through with his latest single, “Pound Signs.” Originally released at the tail end of June, he followed it up with an official remix just a month later. Last week, Headie One unveiled the “Pound Signs” remix alongside J Ramm. The two rappers tackle the glossy drill production detailing the extravagant lifestyle they’ve earned through their rap careers.
In 2018, he released the mixtape The One, which included the single “Know Better”, featuring rapper RV, that became an “underground hit”. He is a member of the drill rap group OFB. Born October 6, 1994, Headie One is best known for his track “18Hunna” featuring rapper Dave, which peaked at number 6 on the UK Singles Chart. He has released seven mixtapes, 4 solo mixtapes and 3 mixtapes with fellow OFB rapper RV. In 2019, Headie One released his seventh and first mainstream mixtape titled Music x Road, which peaked at number 5 on the UK Albums Chart. He has since released Edna which peaked at number one on the UK Albums Chart, an album which pays homage to his mother, Edna Adjei.
In December 2019, he featured on Stormzy’s new album Heavy Is the Head on the song “Audacity”. In July 2020, he released a single featuring Drake called “Only You Freestyle” produced by M1onthebeat. In October 2020, his debut album Edna topped the UK charts. The album was dedicated to his late mother of the same name. It has garnered plenty of praise within the music world. NME praised the “melancholy, minor-key trap beats requisite of in-vogue modern hip-hop”, while The Times described Adjei as the “breakout star of drill”.
- I put my hands on loads of things
- You best know, I’m not talking about flirting
- Engine pairing, black light sharing
- Skidding and skeering
- Can’t stop gotta keep them walls turning
- Turning, turning, chasing sterling
