Sad Romance is CKay’s debut album, following his Boyfriend EP from February 2021.
His first single, “love Nwantiti,” was released in July 2019 and quickly gained critical acclaim due to its catchy chorus, which trended on social media. He followed it up with “emiliana,” a December 2021 single dedicated to his significant other. He then released two more singles, “WATAWI” and “you.”
When CKay posted a teaser video on social media, he revealed the album’s tracklist and release date, as well as the additional features, who included Ayra Starr, Davido, Focalistic, Abidoza, Mayra Andrade, and Ronisia.
