Buhari Dares IPOB, Lands In Imo Amid Threat Of Attack
President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday touched down in Imo State at the Sam Mbakwe Airport in Owerri, the state capital.
He was received at the airport by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, chairman of the South-East Governors’ Forum and Ebonyi State Governor Dave Umahi, and the All Progressives Congress Anambra State governorship candidate, Andy Uba.
Others at the airport to welcome the president included some cabinet ministers and presidential aides from the south-east, the executive secretary of NALDA Paul Ikonne, as well as other federal and state government officials.
In a post on Instagram, Uzodimma said he was happy the president made out time to visit Imo despite his tight schedule.
He wrote, “It is with a heart full of gratitude that I, on behalf of the good people of Imo State, welcome His Excellency President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR to the Eastern Heartland on a working visit to commission some of our completed people-oriented projects.
“Mr President, we are delighted to have you in Imo State on this august occasion despite your tight schedules and it’s our pleasure that while in Imo State, you will enjoy the hospitality and conviviality of our people.”
Buhari arrives Imo amid the sit-at-home order given to south-easterners by the separatist group, the Indigenous People of Biafra. The group had also threatened to attack the president.
Buhari is expected to, among others, inaugurate the first phase of Naze/Nekede/Ihiagwa/Obinze link road, Balloon Driven/Flood Control Tunnel and Egheada Bypass road.
Buhari will also hold town hall meeting with stakeholders from the south east zone of the country.
